VOLUME 2013 5 & 6 (May and June) |
The Senior Center has had four good months.
Our snow bird friends have left us for the summer. We will miss them but look
forward for their return.
Surprise
visit
Mike Phillips, one of the
original Board Members paid us a visit. Mike stayed for lunch and played Bingo
before heading back to Rochester, N.Y. It’s always a pleasure to spend time
with a member who has helped make our Center what it is today.
New Board
Members:
We would like to welcome
Christine Blahut and Julie Luke as new Board Members. Christine will be in
charge of Publicity. Christine and her husband Eric do a great job cooking
lunch on Tuesday. She also is
our expert on crocheting,
working with our Needle Craft group on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM.
Julie is in charge of
Decorations. She also volunteers in the kitchen two days a week and has been
great help cooking when Christine and Eric needed time off.
A Note from the President (Dee): We are in
search of a few good friends to serve as Board Members. Have a fresh idea, a
willingness to help our Center grow then we want you. Contact any Board Member

**SENIOR
FEATURE** (highlighting people
and events at KBH Senior Center)
Our own artist in residence,
Lois Poignee, has instructed our oil painting class since 1993. Lois
uses the three color method of oil painting. Lois trained under artist Silva
Fernandes for three years in Rhode Island. Each spring, the talented class
enters the New Hanover Senior Games competition and has won many ribbons. The
class meets on Mondays and Thursdays, from 11AM – 2 PM. Lois donates her time
to teach the class so the cost is only $1.00 per session. Students of all
abilities from beginner to advanced are welcome. Please bring your own
supplies. Lois welcomes visitors, so stop in. (Composed by Christine Blahut)
